Friday

And another frustrating day at work while Ben-cat snoozes away at home. This evening I’ve started reviewing my ideas for planting next year and am aware that there are still a few bulbs sitting ready to go into the Magic Garden

Wednesday

I spent all day and a bit at work and came home to a clear and soon to be frosty evening with a wonderful view of the moon & Mars - I promise there is a speck that is Mars in the photo!

Tuesday

Unusually for me I was preoccupied with work during the day. I think ti might have been dry this morning at one point but Ben was not keen in the idea of being outside, managing about 30 minutes. By the time I was free it was both dark and very wet. So here are a pair of mice photos from today 2 years ago

Monday

I had a long day at work today and hence no time in my MagicGarden. It was dark at both ends of the day and I arrived home at the same time as it started raining. On the good side, unlike previous years it wasn’t blowing a storm (2013) or snowing (20212)

Saturday

Today started off dry with even a hint of sunshine but by this afternoon it was spitting with rain and now it is pouring. However I did get the vital task of the first lot of lights trailed around the railings in the front garden and in the Magic Garden I put up the five stake lights.

There are blooms left in the front garden but they are all getting rather bedraggled. I think I will cut down the hollyhocks now but the scruffy coreopsis can carry on providing some colour. The rosebuds probably won’t open up now but occasionally I get a rose bloom in December

Thursday

Its a year since Storm Arwen destroyed my fences and knocked the Magic Garden to bits. My new fences went up quickly afterwards and following another storm the last fence was also replaced.

Foggy Tuesday

It was distinctly chilly all day here with fog being the main theme. Not a day for being out for long, not that I had long to be out. Ben managed longer than I did today but that’s not saying much! I am pleased to have tidied the front garden as the heuchera are looking happier for it

Another Monday at Work

It was foggy today - I’m not sure if it lifted at all during the day as it was dark & foggy when I cam home again. Ben is liable to get into quarrels he can’t win with other cats so he is grounded when I’m not around to rescue him.

Sunday

I’ve continued to be busy setting up the shed - feeling very proud of the tool rack that I’ve created! It felt very autumnal today and of course the drawing in of the day is so early that its impossible to ignore the season. I planted out the last of the tulips which were busy trying to grow out of their plastic bag and brought a couple of the pots into the summerhouse to protect them from the frost and damp.

Saturday

I have continued to be busy trying to sort out the bike shed and create a tidy space for the garden tools & ‘stuff’. I want to move things out of my summerhouse to create a bit more space - I’m not sure what to do with the banana plant. I’ve tidied the patio a little more & will empty some of the pots to store them.

Friday

I wasn’t at work today and spent a large chunk of it clearing out the leaves from around the plants in the front garden. I also did some work in the shed creating a place to put the garden stuff and I also moved the wee apple tree from where its too close to the black elderflower and the magnolia into a space where the metal arch has been this year. I think it will create another wee space to plant up.

Wednesday

Its continuing to be rather wet and despite my best efforts the wet leaves are clogging up my front garden. Ben has been keeping an eye on the back garden and on his little catmint plant in the Magic Garden

Tuesday

Today I did a bit of leaf gathering for my leaf mould. Unfortunately I don’t have a lawnmower so can’t do as Monty Don suggests and mow the leaves so I’m just relying on the slower decomposition of whole leaves. Otherwise I’ve been out walking and enjoying the presence of fieldfares & stonechats.
