It snowed last night - not a massive amount but enough to give a covering across the Magic Garden. It largely melted across the day as we had bright sunshine. Ben probably spent longer than I did in the Magic Garden today as I did more seed sowing inside
Monday
My wee collection of vegetables are doing ok so far this year. The overwintering kale & rainbow chard are looking battered but are still providing a little foliage for eating. The leeks and the garlic are coming on if slowly. The perennial leek looks as if it is settling in and my broadbeans are surviving so far.
Sunday
Its been chilly today & remained grey although it hasn’t rained. I spent the afternoon sowing seeds - I’ve rearranged my windowsills so hopefully will be able to fit some more trays in over the next few days. I also added a Erythronium pagoda to the Magic Garden - part of this week’s treat to myself.
I continue to enjoy my hellebores and am tempted to try and multiply these beauties. There is a large white one in the front garden too.
Saturday
Its a bit chilly today and the air had a dampness but I spent some time in the Magic Garden tying up the jasmine at the back and persuading Ben not to chew all the catnip plants
Thursday
Its cool and grey here for all we are into meteorological Spring. Ben and I spent some time outdoors together just enjoying having the Magic Garden to be in. I disturbed a mouse but was too slow to capture it in a photograph and Ben showed a total lack of interest in it!
Tuesday
Rather disappointingly it has rained for most of the day but the little bits of bright colour still made it worth looking out across the Magic Garden
Monday
I have a lot of bird feeders now in the Magic Garden and am enjoying that the birds are increasingly using all of them.
Sunday
A better if not warmer say today. Even Ben was tempted out into the sun. I planted out some primulas under the rowan tree
Saturday
Spring took a step back today as its distinctly chilly again. There continues to be other signs though of the season moving forward with greening of the Magic Garden. I bought some cheerful little primroses as part of my supermarket shopping today & have planted them round the apple tree at the back as a small splash of colour. When I planted them I was pleased to see the rhubarb was beginning to unfurl.
Friday
Home in the dark again!
Thursday
Today has been a beautiful sunny day. Ben and I sat outdoor and enjoyed the sunshine.
Wednesday
The feeling of spring continuesThe front garden has a lot of bulbs in it and I am pleased with how they are coming up through the leaves and are complimenting the heuchera
The hellebores are doing spectacularly well now too
Tuesday
There’s a real feel of spring today. It was sunny this morning but had descended into greyness by the time I was able to get out into the Magic Garden. The daffodils are now coming out in force giving lovely bright points of colour around the garden.
Ben is pleased with the new shoots in the catnip & I am equally pleased with the signs of life in the rhubarb
Sunday
Today we have mainly stayed dry. First thing we had some sunshine but then it was largely grey. It really does feel like spring is arriving with the daffodils coming out and the birdsong.
Saturday
Spring and rain seem to be arriving in equal measures at the moment. Today I replaced three of the lavenders in the Magic Garden and added in a new Leucanthemum May Queen in the North section and a Bergenia Roblum. In the south section I planted a new white Hellebore, a named variety this time Helleborus ‘Christmas Carol’.

Friday
Storm Otto doesn’t seem to have done too much damage in the Magic Garden. I have several pots horizontally inclined and the prayer flags are flapping loose but I don’t think anything is actually broken.
Thursday
Spring is definitely arriving in the Magic Garden. I sat enjoying the birdsong, watching Ben and appreciating my outdoor space.
My wee-est daffodils are smaller than their neighbouring snowdrops!
Tuesday
It was good to have an afternoon not working and the sun was out. The signs of spring are all around with the first of our daffodils out.
Ben reminded me that I need to do some maintenance work around the pond. I was relieved when he went to investigate the birds’ water as I wouldn’t put it past him to fall in the pond.
Sunday
Today has been cool & grey. Ben cat and I spent some time together in the Magic Garden today. I expanded a hole under the fence hoping that it might give hedgehogs a way back into the Magic Garden.
Saturday
I have had a lovely time in the Magic Garden today - mainly tidying up and watching the birds.
