I did some emergency repair works today to the arbour seat as its roof is disintegrating. I think I need to find something to hold it together for a bit longer but in the meantime I have put some new wooden batons in place. I also did a slug removal from the lettuce patch and planted out the new black kale and curly kale plants - which I suspect will be eaten through by tomorrow despite their copper collars.
Thursday
Been a bit busy today but did manage to find time to fill the bird feeders - I’m pleased my bird population has come back after a bit of an absence
Tuesday
I didn’t spend much time outside beyond photographing the insects & harvesting more blackberries - Ben did spend a bit more time napping outdoors.
Sunday
We’ve had a sunny afternoon and a hint of warmth. Ben has been out almost all day & has reclaimed the back corner for himself. I’ve planted out a few more of my half-price selections from B&Q
I was slightly taken back to find I have Harlequin (Asian) ladybirds in my Magic Garden
Saturday
More wet but a little bit of sunshine of finish the afternoon - I gathered more blackberries & picked some rowan berries to make liqueur & then enjoyed watching the bees while Ben enjoyed a nap
Thursday
We have had real warmth today with some sunshine too - feeling like August, almost!
I took advantage of an afternoon off to trim back the next bit of the rose at the back and pruned the black elder & blackcurrent bush. I’ve treated myself to a few new plants including a hydrangea that has gone into the patch at the back where Ben’s catnip patch is.
Monday
Another disappointingly chilly day!
Sunday
We’ve had a lot more rain and its continued chilly but today its been dry & not quite so cold - still not the weather August is renown for.I spent the afternoon cutting back the back greenery.
Thursday
It has a bad habit of raining a lot at the moment. The Magic Garden is looking rather fabulous though.
Tuesday
I was working at home today which gave me an opportunity to get out and record the insects
Monday
Its wet again today - Ben explored briefly before coming in and drying his paws on me. I’m quite pleased that the new plants I put in yesterday will have received a good watering in.
Achillea New Vintage Red
Salvia Nemorosa Purple
Verbena
Stachys
Salvia East Friesland
Curry plant
Sunday
Did quite a bit of work in the Magic Garden clearing a space under the wee oak tree and then planting into it
Saturday
I’m tired today but enjoyed a few minutes in the Magic Garden, having watered the tomatoes and admired the growing courgettes
Thursday
We’re still getting frequent wetness so the Magic Garden has a habit of looking a bit bedraggled. I have an excellent crop of redcurrants but I don’t think I’ll get many more broadbeans as the slugs & snails have moved in.
Wednesday
Long day at work followed by just a few moments enjoying my Magic Garden
The courgettes are doing ok despite the coolness of the weather and I have hopes of a late pea crop
Tuesday
More heavy rain today and thunder too! It does not feel like July but the Magic Garden is thriving.
The Next Monday!
I’ve spent a week away from home and in the meantime its rained ++ and turned into a jungle. It was a bit too chilly to sit and enjoy the Magic Garden this evening after work.
Monday
I caught a few moments in the Magic Garden this morning before driving over to North Wales.
Sunday
More of a gap than usual in blogging reflecting the busyness of life! Its windy here today and not very warm. So far the tomato house survives but several things have blown over and the garden is assuming a bit of a battered look
Thursday
Today I’ve picked peas, blackcurrants & gooseberries before watering the tomatoes, cucumbers & new plants and watched the insects
